Here are some interesting statements about Canadians and recycling.

Canadians are amongst the most wasteful people in the world.
There is an average of 7 kilograms of textile waste (clothes, bedding, curtains, etc.) per person in landfills throughout Canada.
Textile waste accounts for more than 4% of materials in Canada’s landfills.
If all the textiles that are thrown away in one year were compressed together they could fill a solid structure, as wide and tall as the Skydome, 3 times over.
85% of reycylable clothes are being needlessly thrown out.
On average, 80% of textiles thrown away still have 75% of their wearability left.
If everyone in Canada bought one reclaimed woolen garment each year, it would save an average of 300 million gallons of water and 400 tonnes of chemical dyes.

What a fantastic gift for a teacher! I have to get my hands on this book. Found the idea from Parenting By Nature – good site.
Armed with money to spend on the kiddies, I drive up to construction bin alley, or better known as the parking lot of the new outlets in Edmonton South Common (by the Earl’s). First stop Banana Republic. Big store, lots of adult clothing, lots of staff, two customers including me. One hour later, new jeans and a new shirt. Yeah! Great prices for Banana couture in my opinion.
Now onto the Gap Factory Outlet. As I walk in I was surprised to get more of an “Old Navy” feel than a Gap. Meaning, lot’s of logo tees, bright colors and casual wear. I came for the kiddies anyway, so I darted to the back of the big store. As I looked around the girl’s and boy’s wear sections I was unimpressed. Not by the clothing as much as the pricing. Some cute items for sure (Sunflower dress – so cute) but not for those prices. I think that I am better off with the discounts at the regular Gap. No obvious sales there, like I found at BR either. Will I go back to the outlets? Of course. For once I spent money on me and not the kids! How was your experience there?

Rockabye Baby! transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. The soothing sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron and other instruments will lull your infant into a sweet slumber.
Do cries in the night make you a basket case? If a rambunctious baby is turning you into an insomniac, Green Day’s anthems about dookie and shenanigans can help make sweet children. Say good riddance to a cranky baby. Welcome to paradise. Yes… I am an American idiot.

The Time Out Pad™ helps parents make the most of the time out technique.
To help children learn when their behavior is not acceptable, many parents use the ‘time-out’ technique, sitting the child quietly for a few minutes to calm down. Time-outs are a great way for the parents to stay calm too!
