Electric Rat & Rodent Zapper 8000V

I had a rat in my house after my sewer pipes burst and it gave him access to my basement. I put a camera in front of the trap and some peanut butter as bait. Took 6 hours; rat is now in the garbage and very dead. I saw the zap and it's awesome; like Frankenstein when he becomes alive in the movies. I have the mouse and the rat traps and both work really well. Forget rodents not triggering cheap snap traps; this is instant and effective and no way they can avoid the zap. Sure it's ten times more expensive than a snap trap or glue trap, but it works everytime, all the time.

I was over run with mice, and I think I saw a couple rats as well. I couldn't be sure, because I read that rats and mice don't mix. But, I do think that a couple of rats got in there. This caused me to order the rat sized trap, because, what if Mama Rat showed up? It was like a horror show.

I've used the small Victor ones for mice and thought I'd try this for our chipmunk infestation. Wow, within the first few hours it had the first guy. I picked up the unit and emptied it easy. Figured "Hey, there's still bait on that little back door, lets see if the next guy goes in". Sure enough by the next morning, chipmunk # 2! After #4, I cleaned as instructed, I wore gloves so my scent does not impact the trap.

I set 2 traps with peanut butter, the next morning I had 2 dead rats. I reset the traps, the next day I had one dead rat. I set the traps for 2 more days and no more rats.

I got the first one about 3 months ago to put under my porch where the chipmunks (seems like they are endless) keep getting into my crawl space. The first day I received it I loaded the door with a finger full of peanut butter, put the batteries in, placed it under the porch, and the very first time I checked it (2-3 hours later) already had to remove a chipmunk. I caught two more that first day and did not have to reload the trap. I ordered two more to put around the house to catch the little mice that don't hit the snap traps anymore.

We have been dealing with 2 rats in our attic for over a month. We tried to trap it, but the thing actually broke the metal cage mechanism that locks the rat in so you can take it somewhere and release. I also tried buying some scent packets that were supposed to repel them and it didn't work.

After trying spring loaded traps with peanut butter as bait (rats ignored) and glue traps (the rat escaped), I bought this electronic trap and after a few days caught the 3 rats that were in the basement. I used raw sunflower seeds and made a little path of seeds outside of the trap to draw them in and that worked great.

No touch disposal. Your hands never have to touch the rodent. After the kill, just pick up unit, tilt the open side over a trash can and rodent falls out. It basically kills thru electric shock. It's very quick. The unit uses 4 "C" batteries (not included) and the batteries last thru several kills. It can go outside, but I'd use it where no water can hit it as it is not waterproof. I've used this same unit (outside, on the ground, under an eve) for over 5 years and I'm very happy with it.

I just bought an old farmhouse that was abandoned due to probate sale. I killed two big adult rats! The first time I put the trap down, that night I caught one big fat rat. I think she was a pregnant female. I emptied, reloaded the peanut butter, (in the little door), RESET (turned off and back on), and left it where I caught the first rat, BOOM! That night I caught big fat rat number two! She was also, a pregnant female. Then, I caught two more young baby rats. The batteries last for 50 resets! I bought two traps... one for the attic, but I caught them all in the laundry room. I emptied right away so there would be no dead rat odor.

Had a very smart rat -- a variety of other traps failed to catch it. Finally tried this, and it worked great. Poor little thing didn't know what happened.

I have a chipmunk problem. I had been poisoning them which helped thin the herd, but there are two or three that refuse to succumb to the treats I put down for them, So I resorted to this... Baited it, fired it up (mine buzzed but so very quietly, something I read people complaining about in reviews and when I checked it today... Fried chipmunk! Alvin down, Simon and Theodore next. So I re-baited it and fired her up for round two.I will note, that like other reviewers noted, these critters figured out how to peel the painters tape I had used (only thing I had readily available yesterday), opened the door and completely cleaned the bait area. So my guess is that was Simon and Theodore cleaning up after Alvin fried. So today, I duct taped the heavens out of it.So here we are a week later and a total of 4 chipmunks. It's working so good, I'm gonna buy another one. I don't know how people have poor results with this, figure out where they're travelling and bait it and let it do it's thing. It's like fishing with dynamite.Two Weeks later, a total of 7 chipmunks and one mouse.Now September. 12 chipmunks on this trap. It worked so well, I bought a second one, which is now up to 3 chipmunks. Add in 1 Chipmunk from an old fashioned rat sized snap-trap and I am up to 15.Now October, and more updates. Between the two units, I am up to 23 Chipmunks (24 if you include the snap-trap kill), 2 mice and 1 squirrel. However, I do regret to inform people that unit #1 has failed. Unit #2 is doing all the work now. Not sure why, who, what, but it no longer is juicing victims. It is setting off the trap (giving the blinking green light), but not electrocuting them.Funny things that have happened during this journey... I got two chipmunk kills at once. I think what happened was munk #1 set off the trap, then #2 came in to investigate during that 2 minute window when the trap is still juicing them and got his fair share. Then another time, a chipmunk got juiced and I think a squirrel yanked him out at some point in time to get to the sunflower seeds I had also put in there.Note: I don't have pics of everyone of them, but you can see, this thing does it's job quite well...

i am on my second trap, had a drizzle on night and that killed the trap, i was using it outside, not following warnings. i opened it up a few days later and saw circuit board was corroded, if i would have gotten into it the first day after it got wet, probably could have dried it out. my point in writing this review is to say that i made an aluminum sleeve to slip the trap into, so it can be used outside with no problem. just a open ended i slide trap into. problem is water can get into circuit board through the top on off switch, the interior of the trap i don't believe can be harmed by a little dampness. living on oregon coast I will use it in an open shed during the rainy season. great killing machine.
