Having looked more in detail at the smaller size of the knives, I believe the design is just smarter, and justifies the size of the knives. I was able to shred the same type of branches and leaves as in previous years.
After having discovered the Einhell brand for other tools, I decided to buy this wood shredder. Although a bit hesitant because of some reviews I had seen, I must say that this machine does the job! The last 4.5 years I have been using a shredder of a better-known brand, which cost three times the price of the Einhell shredder.
To always have sharp knives in stock, I ordered a replacement knife set with the shredder. When the knives arrived, I immediately noticed that the size was very small in comparison to the knives I was used to from the other brand. Today I used the Einhell shredder for the first time, for over an hour and all worked fine. The result was even finer than what I was used to of the other brand.
The willow was shredded in no time. I didn’t miss the nonexistent feed function. A good device for occasional use.
